Habits or skills that you picked up at college that surprise you
The purpose of this blog is to share the habits and skills that I learned in college. College life gave me many new experiences. Some of them really surprised me.I remember feeling nervous and excited at the same time on my first day. Everything was new, the classrooms, the people, and the rules. I was not sure if I could handle college life, but I was determined to try my best. Every day brought new experiences, like meeting new friends, participating in discussions, and learning things that I had never done before. Some moments were challenging, but each challenge taught me something valuable. These experiences helped me grow as a person and gave me confidence that I could adapt to any situation.
First, I gained presentation skills. At the beginning, I was very nervous to speak in class. My hands were shaking and I was scared to make mistakes. But during my group presentation, I started to feel more confident. It was a fun day and I was proud of myself because I could present better than I expected. Before that day, I used to avoid speaking in front of people because I thought I would embarrass myself. But preparing for the presentation step by step helped me feel ready. I practiced at home, checked my slides carefully, and even rehearsed in front of a mirror. When the day came, I still felt nervous, but seeing my friends support me and gave me courage make me happy. After presenting, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment. I realized that practice, preparation, and facing fears are key to improving presentation skills, and now I feel ready to speak in front of any class confidently.

Second, I learned social skills. Working in groups taught me to share ideas, listen to my friends, and respect their opinions. I also became more confident to make friends and work in a team. Through these experiences, I learned how to communicate better with others and solve problems together. These skills are very useful, not only in college but also in real life and in the future when I start working.Group work was not always easy because sometimes people had different opinions or ideas. I learned to stay patient, listen carefully, and explain my thoughts clearly. I also learned to compromise when needed and respect everyone’s point of view. Making friends in college taught me how to support others and accept help when I need it. These social skills are essential because they help me collaborate better, reduce misunderstandings, and build strong relationships that make college life enjoyable and productive.I also hope that i would never ever in my life being in one group with a free rider.

College also gave me new habits. The first habit is time management. I learned to plan my study time and finish work earlier. This made me more disciplined. The second habit is note-taking. I started to write notes in class and it helped me to revise for exams. At first, I struggled to organize my time because I wanted to do many things at once. I often felt overwhelmed and stressed. But then I started making a schedule for each day, setting priorities, and checking tasks one by one. This habit helped me finish work efficiently and have free time for relaxing or hobbies. Writing notes became a part of my routine, and it made studying easier because I could review important points quickly. These habits not only improved my academic performance but also made my daily life more organized and calm.
In conclusion, college surprised me with new skills and habits. I improved in presentation and social skills. I also developed time management and note-taking. These changes made me more confident and responsible, and I believe they will help me in the future.College also taught me that learning is not just about studying books. It is about facing challenges, improving yourself, and building good relationships with others. Every skill and habit I gained makes me feel more capable and ready for future challenges. I am grateful for these experiences because they shaped me into a more confident, responsible, and prepared student. I know that what I learned in college will continue to benefit me in my personal and professional life.
